"Café Local" a fresh and modern looking café-restaurant with a strong diverse personality injected by its owners Pande and Gert, a personality apparent in the style, the music and the menu.
We welcome our customers with a quality drink or a selection of our world cuisine dishes. We offer wonderful 'illy' espresso, latte or cappuccinos, or a choice from our extensive menu, serving all day long from 9am till midnight - all at reasonable prices without comprising quality.
Our menu reflects the diversity of our experience and backgrounds of world travels: a Belgian joie the vivre and love for quality food and drink combined with Balinese hospitality, gentleness and a sense of balance in all things.
Pande originally from Karangasem east Bali, went to Belgium in 2002 where he studied at the 'Acebe Syntra' to become a cook. After working first as sous chef, He started working as chef at the fashionable 'Tiramisu' lunchroom in the heart of Antwerp center.
Gert started out working in sales and interior decoration, owning a gift shop in the old town of Antwerp, he also worked many years as bartender in the most trendy restaurants and night bars of Antwerp. One of Gert's last adventures before settling on Bali was a stint as speciality scent advisor for Harding brothers on the 'Queen Elisabeth 2' ocean liner. In 1999 Gert visited Bali for the first time, the island beauty and splendor and that of its people left a deep impression and he decided to come back and stay longer. In 2001 he lived a year in a small desa(village) called Penestanan near Ubud. In that year he made friends with people from all over the world as well as local people from Bali and one in particular was Pande. In 2002 they both went to Belgium to work and study. After years of travelling between Belgium and Bali ,they came across the current Cafe local premises in the heart of Kuta and dicided that it was time to open their own cafe restaurant and settle down in Bali.
Cafe local opened its doors in December 2007.
